Back where it all started18 December 2008So I am now back where I was exactly three months ago, Vienna Airport! Since last time I have been taking it a bit easy, and then some hardcore stuff. Last Saturday there was a 3-man Xball competition in Graz. Me, David, Stoney and Martin were playing. I had been working on my portfolio until 4 in the morning, and then had to get up at 7 to go play. The game went ok until the finals, where we played like total crap. Stoney had to go home to prepare a Christmas dinner and Martin was in terrible shape and had to go home to care for his dog. That left two tired players who hadn’t had food all day, and were totally not up for more paintball. We found a third player, and cudos to him for suiting up and helping us out. Anyway, after the finals me and David hurried to his hometown for the Christmas dinner that Stoney had to go take care of. What can I say, the food was aweeeeesome! First we got a pumpkin soup where you pour in a bit of pumpkin seed oil. Tastes so nice! Then for the main course, we got to chose between a lot of different meat and different potato dishes, rice, fish and some other different stuff. Afterwards we were served apfelstrudel, and some moussé-like deserts. We had a great time, but it was a shame that I was too tired to enjoy it as much as I should. The owners of the restaurant and his brother also operate a wineyard, so I got to taste a lot of really nice wine and pear-schnaps. I was promised to get to see their wineceller and the rest of their winecomplex some time later, which I am really looking forward too. Anyway, we had a great time, and and seven in the morning, we went home to get some sleep. 9 hours later I woke up.. My body was in such a bad shape, but not hungover. But there was no schoolwork done that day. I came home to Graz at 9 in the evening, and just crashlanded on the bed, watching some movies and falling asleep early. The days afterwards, I have been taking it pretty easy, just waiting to get home and working a bit on my portfolio. I have gotten a few ideas of where to look for internship, thanks to some great friends! I just need to look a bit more so that I might have the chance to intern in the sports industry. Also, this week I got a sweet package from the great guys in Uppsala. It was a Regency Crome paintball marker! I’m going to try it for a few weeks and try to write a thorough review about it.
After going in to the city of Graz on Wednesday to get some presents/souvenirs for the people at home, we took the train to Vienna with the intention of staying there for the night and then go to the airport. After 2.5 hours by train we were there, and started looking for a hotel. I called my friend Philip who used to play with Vienna United, and he offered us a room to stay in, which was really nice of him. We took the subway to his district, and went to a bar to wait for him and his friends. Then we went to get something to eat at a local Indian restaurant. First time I ate such food, and I can’t complain. It was both pretty healthy and delicious. I’m slowly getting used to eating three meals a day again, which is just crazy, even breakfest! Well, now I am going to go upstairs to see when I can check in my luggage. Can’t wait to get to Copenhagen and see my family again. I wish all my new friends and all my old ones, a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year (silvester for you Austrians) and I hope to see you all again very soon. Please note that i will not be reachable on my Austrian number from now until the 4th of january. Email or IM me is probobly the easiest way to get a hold of me. Auf wiedersehen! (schnitzels since arrival: 16, not counting the schnitzel semmels) PS. Just recieved word that me and Erik did not win anything in the packaging design contest which blows. But atleast I can put it in my portfolio now.DS

Need some relaxing.12 December 2008Sadly not much has happened the latest week. We have finally delivered our last material for the packaging design contest. We were done at 4 in the morning, and then going home to get some sleep just to get up 5 hours later to get our "anmeldsbescheinigung". It's a form that entitles us to stay in Austria more than 3 months. What's up for the weekend then? I'm not sure. I know I have alot of work to put in on my portfolio, also the saw-project is getting a bit urgent. It feels like I'm walking in circles, which is a bad sign. So hopefully I can get a lot done before I go home, because my christmas holidays will also be clogged with schoolwork. Suplise! There was a rumor about a paintball-competition at the hall this weekend, but I haven’t heard anything specific about it so we will have to see. Also David and Micheal will be arranging a christmas dinner, but nothing new about that either. (could be that I have been to busy to actually find out myself, sorry guys) I got in contact with an old childhood sweetheart this week. My god what a pleasant reunion it was. Her name was ‘Macross: Do you remember love’ It is an old japanese cartoon from 1984 I think. First time I saw it was when my parents had guests and they had rented it for the kids to watch. My parents copied it for me and I can’t even imagine how many times I saw it. This week i’ve seen it at least 20 times alone. I have also gotten a hold of the entire series, so now I have something to watch whilst doing schoolwork. Times like these I really wish I knew how to speak japanese though. Anyway, they don’t make movies like this anymore! Robots, Girls, Fights, death and everything else in between woven together by an awesome soundtrack.
In a brief moment I will go down to the workshop and try to do something productive. We’ll see where that ends. You can’t believe how much im looking forward to going home to see my Isabelle and my family. 6 days and counting! wiedersehen!

back on track03 December 2008So the weekend was pretty ok. Got a bit sicker but got some work on the portfolio, but far from enough. Friday evening David, Sebastian and Stoney took me downtown for some Swedischer glögg. Super sweet drinking glögg while snow was turning the city all white (and cold).
(Me, David and Sebastian) Other than that, nothing really special has happened during the weekend. Got a bit depressed by all the work that has to be done, and today, we got even more work until next wednesday. No rest for the Swedes. Only thought that fuels me right now is that im going home in two weeks, to see Isabelle and my family. Can't wait! So what awaits me until tuesday? - Develope my Saw project even more and build some kind of sketch model before tuesday. - Do 8 A3's of colorshape renderings until wednesday. - 7 Different ideas for a glass beverage holder family before tuesday. - Do a lot more portfoliowork before tuesday so that I can get some pointers by the teacher in charge of the saw project course - Find places for my internship - Finish and send in our final draft for the packaging design by friday. Including final touches to the working sketchmodel of the beer keg. Welcome to our office. We took over a major part of the studio a week ago, and we ain't letting go!
Yippie. My neck hurts as hell, I need a real screen to work on instead of a laptopscreen 15 hours a day. Bon voyage!
