Intersting Open letter.

22 June 2009

I found a pretty interesting open letter to design students, so I thought id share it with the rest of you.

My favourite quote is: "Your education will not end the day you graduate: on the contrary, what you're doing is learning how to learn, and how to think, and how to visualize the ideas that percolate in your brain."

You can find the rest of the letter on Design Observer, and here is the direct link to letter in question.

Enjoy!

Il mostro!

16 June 2009

Last wednesday, after being sick for two days, I went home to Sweden.

We had thursday and friday off, so I booked a fairly cheap ticket home to see my Isabelle :)

So after many annoying hours on flights and airports, she finally picked me up at Helsingborg Central station. Man was it ever great to get back..

I dont have too much to write about this weekend, mainly photos to show you :)

We did not do anything at all on Thursday, if I remember it correctly. We had rain and storms outside, so we stayed in the couch.

Friday me and Isa had a pretty similar day, except that we went for a run in the rain, and then had some nice soup at home, and watched forrest gump together. Very relaxing...

We were supposed to go to my home field in Varberg on Saturday to visit the second leg of the Three crowns cup (Swedish Paintball league). However, two minutes after we left and arrived at the gas-station, an older man told me that we had a flat tire, and to my surprise he was right. So no Varberg that day. We went back instead and went for a long walk along the coast.

Sunday was the day to drive to Varberg instead. It was nice to see a lot of friends again, and just watch some paintball in the shining sun. A fellow called Erik Svensson(Thanks for the pictures Erik), was there flying with a Helicopter and managed to get some photos of our home field. Looks pretty awesome from above as well :)

I got a bit of sun on my pale body, and some good laughs.

In the evening, when we came back, my father was standing on the balchony with his binoculars. He told me that the Volvo Ocean race boats would be passing by any second. This was the first time ever, so I could'nt have timed my visit back home better.

And finally, the first boat showed it's sails behind the peninsula, and to my excitement, it was the il Mostro! Puma Volvo Ocean race boat, oh joy!

I wish I was a pirate, arrr..

The pictures are taken with my new digicam through binoculars, so the quality is a bit sketchy.

It does look like they passed pretty close, but it was a couple of nautcal miles from us.

To give some referens, here is the normal view without cheat-zooms. (I miss the ocean way too much)

anyway, on monday afternoon I had to head back to Germany, and Isabelle was going to her parents in Vansbro, Dalarna. (far far up north)

Really sucked to leave her this time, since we had such a wonderful weekend. But all things have an ending, meh..

Back in the office, and my head is not working 100% properly, but ill try to get it straightened out tomorrow. And finally ive started running again. Its going pretty well, and the times are decreasing in a higher rate than expected. I will tell you more about how later. Until then you can have a look at www.posetech.com , it's pretty interesting, both from an ergonomical point of view and the fact that it seems to work better for me so far.

Vienna Beerest

10 June 2009

Not much has happened lately. Last week I went to a "beerfest" in a city close to Nürnberg and Herzogenaurach, called Erlangen. It was a small carneval thing, but man did they eat and drink a lot. Not surprising though, since we are in Germany...

I went there together with a some other Puma Interns.

Cool thing is that a lot of people are wearing lederhosen and the female version (Tracht or something like that..)

This is Nilovar (my commuter buddy) and her collegue Vanessa in their Trachts. I thought they looked so lovely. Only thing missing was 7-10 beerpitchers each.

But it was an early night for me. I was tired before going, and even more so when coming home about nine.

Two weeks ago I went to Bitburg for a Millennium event with DOW. I managed to get a ride with a guy working in a village 2 hours away from Nürnberg. It was great fun to hang around my Swedish friends again, and the weather was awesome all weekend. Cant even remember the last time I played a tournament with Hasse. The games went so-so. We played some good games and some really awful ones. The last game of the weekend, we lost. However, it was probably one of my best games all year. A lot of aggression from my side during this game, which seems to work in my favor.

Sucked to say goodbye to the guys and go our different ways. But I think Im getting a bit used to it by now.

Last weekend I visited Phil in Vienna. It's always awesome to go there, because we have a lot of fun. I actually managed to FINALLY buy a new camera, so the one on top here will be the last camerapicture I will publish. :) Anyway, I arrived pretty late at friday evening, so we watched a movie until pretty late, so naturally we woke up late. I had planned to buy the camera early, so that we could go sightseeing in Vienna. This did not happend. We just went looking in stores (Puma store among others), got the camera, phil got a bag, and then we went to look at som sunglasses. Found two pairs from Carrerra that looked pretty awesome. Well see if i get them.

I did not use the new cam during the weekend though, didnt feel like losing it the first night that I had it, and taking pics in stores feel retarded. We went to a nightclub on saturday evening with some of Phil's friends, where I also bumped in to one of the Austrian kids that I had in my class in Graz. Small world huh. After a lot of Jägermeister and beer, Phil was lost. So his friends called him. I had a chat with him, didnt understand a word, his friends had a chat with him, no luck there either. They dropped me off at his place where his flatmate Maria (bapedi bupedi!) let me in after 15 minutes of ringing the doorbell. If you read this Maria, thanks and sorry, didnt want to sleep on the porch. Phil wasnt home yet so i fell asleep on the matress and voilá, when I woke up the next morning (2 o´clock) phil was magically there. He knew less than me about how when and where he got home. My guess is that some guy from the bikerbar, he doesnt remember or told anyone about, dropped his unconcious body of at his place. To me thats a probable theory. As always, it was a blast at casa del Fischer, and im looking forward to the next time.

Right now im on my way home to Sweden for the long weekend, after being sick for two days. Still do not feel 100%, but I couldn't just throw away a 250 euro planeticket. Hopefully I can recouperate 100% at home. Isabelle will have to pamper me a lot!

Right now im waiting for my connecting flight in Amsterdam.

I really hate flying

Axion shoes are back!

08 June 2009

Just read that Axion footwear are back from the dead!

http://www.skateboardmadness.nl/skatewinkel/images/stories/logos/axion-footwear-logo.jpg

They will relaunch their stuff some time during 2009, soon i think. They will also be participating in the bread&butter fashion expo in Berlin. I will try to go there together with a new intern who will be dropping in the same day as the expo starts.

So if youre going to BBB, drop me a line!
